Privacy Policy — Free Agent / ChameleonOS
Effective date: October 16, 2026
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This policy describes how Free Agent ("the app", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the Free Agent desktop application for Windows and any related services.
The short version
Free Agent runs on your own computer. We do not operate a service that collects your content. Your conversations, memory database, files, and settings stay on your device unless you choose to send them somewhere — for example, to a web-based AI provider you are already signed into, or to a local model running on your own machine.
When you use a third-party AI service through the app, your input goes to that service under that service's own privacy policy. When you use the phone interface, your traffic is routed through a tunnel provider (Cloudflare) to reach your own computer.
What stays on your device
Free Agent stores the following locally on your computer. We do not transmit these to us:
- Conversations and chat history. Stored in local files and databases on your machine.
- The memory database. Stored locally, for example
agent_memory.db and related files.
- Your settings and configuration. Including model choices, automation inventory, schedules, and prompt files.
- API keys you provide. If you use a bring-your-own-key model, your key is stored locally on your machine. It is sent only to the provider you configured, never to us.
- Files you ask the app to read or write. These stay on your machine unless a task you give the app sends them elsewhere.
What the app accesses on your device
Free Agent can do its job only if it can see and act on your computer. Depending on the features you use, it may access:
- Microphone. Only when you start voice input or wake-word listening. Audio is processed to turn your speech into text. Voice features can be turned off in settings.
- Screen content. When you ask the app to scan a window or read what is on screen, it captures that content to carry out the task.
- Keyboard and mouse control. When you ask the app to operate your PC, it may move the mouse, type, and click on your behalf.
- Files and folders. When you ask it to read, write, or organize files.
- Browser control. When you ask it to use a web AI model, it drives a browser session that you are already signed into.
You control when these are used. The app acts on your instruction.
When information leaves your device
Information leaves your computer only in the following cases:
- When you use a web-based AI service. If you use a web chat such as Gemini, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Comet as the reasoning engine, your prompts and any content the task requires are sent to that service. That service handles the data under its own privacy policy. You are responsible for reviewing the terms of whichever service you connect.
- When you use an external API. If you configure the app to call an API endpoint, your requests go to that endpoint under the terms of that provider.
- When you use the phone interface. Phone access uses a secure tunnel (Cloudflare) to connect your phone to your own computer. Traffic passes through Cloudflare's network. It is not stored by us. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that routing.
- When you use a local model. If you use Ollama or another local model, no data leaves your machine at all. This is the fully offline mode.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not run analytics or advertising that profiles you.
- We do not collect your conversations, memory, or files on our servers.
- We do not require an account with us to use the app.
Microsoft Store
Free Agent is distributed through the Microsoft Store. When you download or update the app through the Store, Microsoft collects information as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. That collection is Microsoft's, and is governed by Microsoft's policy, not this one. What this policy covers is the app itself once it is running on your machine.
Children
Free Agent is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Because the app stores data locally and does not send content to us, there is no server-side data to delete on request.
Your choices
- Voice features: can be turned off in settings.
- Local-only mode: use a local model and no data leaves your device.
- Deleting your data: because data is stored locally, you can delete it by removing the app's data files from your machine. Uninstalling the app removes the program; your data files may remain unless you delete them.
- Third-party services: your use of any AI provider is governed by that provider's terms, and you can stop using it at any time.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
